5 Signs Your Roof Needs To Be Inspected

It can be difficult to know when your roof needs to be professionally inspected. Too often, people take their roofs for granted and assume that everything is fine with them. Failing to have them properly inspected can cause small problems to go unnoticed and turn into significant issues. So, how can you know when you should have your roof examined?

old roof

1. The simplest answer is that any roof over 10 years old should be looked at closely. Roofs are subject to significant wear and tear from the sun, wind, rain, hail, and extreme temperatures. Though they are designed to last 15 years or more, some factors could prevent them from reaching their full life. If you have your roof inspected, you can prevent potentially large problems and extend the life of your roof.

missing shingles
2. Missing shingles are another indicator that it is time for a roof inspection. Whether you find shingles in your yard or notice that they are missing just by looking at the roof, it is important to let a professional take a look. It could be a random occurrence, or it could be an indicator that the entire roof is reaching the end of its life.

3. Another sign that your roof may be ready for inspection is if your neighbors have had roof work done. Has there been a weather system that may have caused issues for them? Your roof might have been damaged, too. If you and your neighbor have had a roof for approximately the same amount of time and they are having work done, it may be time to reexamine your roof as well

hail damage

4. If you have had wind or hail issues, it’s always a good idea to have an inspection. Trained roof professionals can recognize even the subtlest signs of weather damage. The terms of your insurance policy may make it possible for any necessary roof work to be covered if hail or wind damage is discovered.

5. Finally, if you notice visible water stains in your home or on your roof, call for an inspection. Water is one of the biggest indicators of damage and a clear sign of a probable leak. Let an expert determine how and where the water is causing problems.

As we all adjust to our new normal during the novel coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) - we at Sentri Roofing are doing all we can to effectively serve and responsibly protect our clients, partners, and staff. At the moment we are keeping our small business open, as we closely follow the recommendations and guidelines set by the CDC. In an effort to safeguard our clients, partners, and staff - the Sentri Roofing team is making the following modifications to our sales and construction process: 1.) No Contact Policy Inspections, consultations, and installations will be completed with zero physical contact between our representatives and our clients. Internally, we are practicing social distancing. Our team has been directed to keep a 6 foot distance between themselves and others, and to also refrain from physical contact - no high fives, elbow bumps, fist bumps, etc. We are supporting our staff who have made the decision to stay home. Encouraging frequent hand washing and sanitation measures. Additionally, all meetings that require more than 10 attendees are being conducted virtually. 2.) Digital Paperwork Our team is being outfitted with the ability to offer digital paperwork to our customers, in an effort to decrease physical contact. Any of our paperwork can be sent directly to your personal devices, this is an update to our usual pen and paper forms. Digital paperwork gives our small business to the ability to continue inspections, consultations, and construction as seamlessly and safely as possible during this unprecedented time. 3.) Smaller Crews In an effort to stay aligned with current health safety guidelines, all roof replacements will be done with a construction crew that has less than ten workers. This may mean that larger roof replacements will take longer than a day to be completed - but our team believes that taking this extra precaution, and shrinking our crew size is the right thing to do. As the situation progresses and evolves over the upcoming days and weeks, we will stay vigilant and make any necessary adjustments. Ensuring the health and safety of our clients, team, and community is our number one priority. The Sentri Roofing team is always available to answer any questions or concerns. Thank you for your support and flexibility as we work through this crisis together. With Gratitude, The Sentri Roofing Team
